BANQUET
August 8, 2009

Oakland
Alumni Assoc. held it’s Annual Meeting and Banquet at the
Elks Club in Waterville, Me. With 227 Alumni and guests present.
Dana Wrigley, President
served as Master of Ceremonies and welcomed all Alumni and guests.
The Invocation was given by the Rev. Shane Estes, class of ‘59.
The flag salute was lead by Dwight Taylor, class of ‘29.
The Response from the Class of ’59 was given by George (Cappy)
Earle11.
The Eagle Award was
presented to Mike Marston, class of ’73 by J. Hobart Pierce
of the Eagle Award Committee. Mike Marston was awarded the honor
this year for his work with the Mid Maine Homeless Shelter. He
also organized the Thanksgiving Dinner served in Oakland each
year. With the help of many volunteers, as many as 900 people
have received the free dinners each year for the past 30 years.
He has taught and coached sports in Oakland, Me. and now in Skowhegan,
Me.
A short business meeting
was conducted by Pres. Dana Wrigley, class of ‘59. The Secretary’s
report was read by Fran King, class of ‘43. The Treasurer’s
report was read by Alan Charles, class of ‘55. It was voted
to hold the next annual meeting and banquet on Aug. 7, 2010.
The election of officers
was conducted by J. Hobart Pierce, the following officers were
elected. President Dana Wrigley, Vice-President Kelly Roderick,
Secretary Fran King, Treasurer Blaine A. Ellis.
Linda Grady presented
the Barbara Marston door prize to Jean Hanna, class of ’56.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Russell Principato, class of ’52.
Linda Grady, acknowledged
Dwight Taylor’s presence and led the group in singing the
Williams High School song. Dwight Taylor was a member of the graduating
class of 1929 which was the first class to attend all 4 years
at the new Williams High School.
The roll call of the
classes in attendance was conducted by Dana Wrigley and Fran King.
The class with the most present was the class of ’59 with
23 class members present and celebrating their 50th. Class Reunion.
Pres. Dana Wrigley,
read a list of names of those who had passed on recently. The
Benediction was given by Loraine Jones, class of ‘53.
The next Annual
Meeting and Banquet will be on August 7, 2010
